The return of football (did it ever really go away though?!) and Izzy!Hello guys and happy holidays! Having just watched Hollyoaks, and having lost the dog that we were supposed to be looking after (we went upstairs all excited about walking Lulu in the park only to find there was no dog there – hopefully she’ll turn up, maybe she’s run off with Mourinho’s dog and they’ll have loads of little Drogs together!) I was sitting on my bed thinking that I wanted to do some writing. What to write about?…then it struck me, football obviously! How I have missed those Ronaldo stopovers, those plentiful Drogba goals and Ferguson’s old man dance, not to mention all the lovely and amusing comments left to me on this blog by my loyal following of footballers, Craigy G England squad player, how are things? I’ve been trying to watch football ever since the last season ended, even venturing to my local pub one lonely Sunday evening to watch the Copa America final, only for the pub to close at 10.30 before the match was over. What a goal from Baptista, I wonder if Wenger is kicking himself now? I was going for Argentina, what with the wonderful Messi, the dashing Gabrielle and the almighty Tevez, but it was actually the underdogs Brazil (how often do you hear that “the underdogs Brazil” eh?) who took the trophy. And then there was the brilliant and scintillating Emirates cup, and that is no lie, there is no sarcasm here I assure you! It was absolutely great, I had a brilliant time, as I’m sure the man a couple of rows in front of us who shouted “Red Army” by himself throughout the entire match did too, it was as if he had tourettes and couldn’t help himself! Not sure the people next to him had as much fun! 2 matches for the price of one too! First up was Valencia V PSG. I saw David Villa in the flesh! IN THE FLESH and I can affirm that he is just as handsome as he is on TV! But this is about the football not their looks, and unfortunately David did not produce much football wise. He was wearing cool red trainers, but in the first half when he was meant to be shooting into the goal that we were sitting behind, I didn’t see much of David or those red trainers. They lost 3-0 to a convincing and impressive PSG. I was excited to see the Valencia goal keeper Timo, as we’d seen him on TV at the Germany World Cup when Germany were celebrating their 3rd place. I should probably write a full match report of the Arsenal V Inter Milan match, and I will maybe. We saw the pantomime villain Materazzi, who was booed with much enthusiasm by a capacity crowd! Cesc was running about, yes that’s right, young Fabregas, Wenger played a first team so we saw all the lads for the full match, I couldn’t believe it! I suddenly saw Jens walking towards me and was like “Wow, that’s Jens Lehman!” then I saw Cesc, Van Persie, Hleb etc. Top stuff! We won 2-1, but for ages I was terrifed we were actually going to lose. At 1-0 down I had the feeling where I feel physically sick but Hleb pulled us back and VP won it for us with a brilliant goal. I was chanting his name when suddenly I saw the ball smashing into the back of the net towards me and I jumped up screaming! It was cathartic I tell you! And then there was the Community Shield match last Sunday, so really football hasn’t been gone for too long, and what with us meant to all be playing together – which never seems to happen as it has proved rather difficult to round the troops – and all the transfer stuff, there’s a lot that has kept me going. We were listening to the Community Shield match on the radio on my phone in the sunshine in Brockwell park, it was so chilled and relaxed and United were 1-0 up for a bit until Malouda “Crazy Frog” scored for Chelsea. As you probably know, it went to penalties, Van der Saar saved 2, Lampard’s and Pizzarro while United’s had put their’s away like the men they are – Rio and Carrick. Then a Chelsea player was about to step up for their 3rd attempt, we waited with baited breath then the battery went dead. Watched the highlights back at home on Match of the Day.
So how have you all been? Cesc was bored on his holiday in Spain so came back early (was missing me too much I suspect). I’ve been having a great time in between reading about all these transfers: The tension between Gabrielle and Sir Alex as the former tries to leave for arch rivals Liverpool, the arrival of Fernando Torres to Liverpool, the doubt over Shevchenko, will he go back to Milan? The return of a certain bespectacled Swede, the ever lasting fight over Tevez etc. This holiday, thus far I have:Read the final Harry PotterAm reading Crime and Punishment and am half way throughHolidayed in NQ with Shaz, surfingThe cult classic Lambeth Country ShowArsenal football matchWalked from the Arsenal stadium to homeWatched lots of DVDs and have been to the cinema lotsSkateboardingSwam at Brockwell Lido and caught a slight coldAlienated a friend by squirting him with my water pistolAnd lots lots more! And now the sun is finally shining and it actually feels like summer after all the rain! Rock and roll!
