The return of football...and Izzy
So how have you all been? Cesc was bored on his holiday in Spain so came back early (was missing me too much I suspect). I’ve been having a great time in between reading about all these transfers: The tension between Gabrielle and Sir Alex as the former tries to leave for arch rivals Liverpool, the arrival of Fernando Torres to Liverpool, the doubt over Shevchenko, will he go back to Milan? The return of a certain bespectacled Swede, the ever lasting fight over Tevez etc. This holiday, thus far I have:Read the final Harry PotterAm reading Crime and Punishment and am half way throughHolidayed in NQ with Shaz, surfingThe cult classic Lambeth Country ShowArsenal football matchWalked from the Arsenal stadium to homeWatched lots of DVDs and have been to the cinema lotsSkateboardingSwam at Brockwell Lido and caught a slight coldAlienated a friend by squirting him with my water pistolAnd lots lots more! And now the sun is finally shining and it actually feels like summer after all the rain! Rock and roll! See you all soon and check back for weekly football updates on the one and only, izzyfootyblog.blogspot.com

Yeeeaaaaaaaaaa! Oh My god! I never thought I’d be so excited about an England game, which as I write this at half time is 0-0, but after being deprived of football for a fair while, and still being relatively new to this whole malarkey, it has been thrilling in my opinion! Leonardo agrees with me. It’s good to see the pundit Leonardo again, it’s been too long, he’s so sweet, I love his anAlySiS (hehe! But enough of that). Goal of the season is on!!! Love it, classics
Agger Liverpool. His first goal
Robin van Persie V Charlton
Barry Villa V Tottenham
Anleka Bolton V Arsenal smacked it
Paul Scholes Villa V United
Rooney United V Portsmouth rainbow floater
Landzaat Wigan V Arsenal
Rooney Bolton rooney + ronaldo
Mcfadden Everton
Gardener Villa V Bolton
Second half has started, better start watching! Although I wanted to do my write up of the first half! All in good time I guess!
After the match
I’d been planning on revising war poetry as I watched the match, “That there’s some corner of a foreign field, that is forever England”, the fact that I completely forgot about this shows how captivating the match was! It was a very bright start from England in the first half. After all my moaning and complaining about them, they actually played really well today and I’m willing to admit that. Leonardo even thought they deserved to win. Although there weren’t that many attempts on goal during the whole match it was still entertaining, just watching Brazil was great, especially Ronaldinho. I love all the little flicks and tricks and all that. After all the dismal England performances of the past, this almost looked a different team. Here are the notes I was taking as I watched the match, it would have been better if I’d written the minutes they’d occurred, creating a minute by minute analysis but I forgot. Just before the match, they were showing old footage of Wembley matches back in the day and the greatest goals etc. There was this one save by a goalkeeper where the ball went past him then he flipped like a fish or a dolphin or something and kicked the ball out with his legs, it was amazing! Does anyone know who that was and the match? I’ll give a prize to the person who gets it!
This is what was going through my head as I watched it. If it wasn’t revision time I’d do a proper write up!
Just before the match I was thinking: I would never pay to see an England match, even if the ticket was free I’d be a bit unsure, unless Craigy G was playing of course! But when I saw all the players, I decided to support them and started to feel a tiny bit patriotic.
Ate a pear flavoured biscuit – pear flavoured! That just isn’t right! Not a good omen!
Kaka has gelled his hair back
C’mon JC! I saw those stopovers ’av it!
Kaka! Left footed?
Am eating chocolate and raspberry flavoured biscuits – they taste better (we also have chocolate & orange flavoured biscuits and chocolate & lemon – bet you guys wish you were with me!)
Robinho – stopovers galore, if only Cristiano was with me now
Beckham takes a free kick – just like the old days
Controversy! Flagged offside but apparently it wasn’t.
The Italian Job theme tune sung by the fans.
Ooohh so close from Becks
This is deep dude, Ronaldinho had the number 10 shirt (legendary for the Brazilians) but then it was given to Kaka.
Ronaldinho nutmegged Gerrard and he fell over
I love Ronaldinho’s smile.
39 mins Ronaldinho spins around a player, I shall be trying that on the pitch, inspirational.
Beckham and Kaka have a little hug.
Half time – Innocent smoothies!
Michael Owen comes close with a header – just over
After Ronaldinho takes a short corner England get the ball and go on the counter attack, suddenly they come alive, lots of one touch fast paced footy!
68 minute wow! I had the faith in them, had been bigging them up throughout the match – the commentators went a bit quiet after this. John Terry’s header was some header – awesome. And it Beckham’s free kick that set it up.
They’re singing God Save the Queen, they should change “the Queen” with “John Terry” it still rhymes…sort of
Pure England style: We almost score an own goal. I got confused and was cheering because I thought it was the Brazilian goal.
“Rule Britannia!” go the fans
The Brazilians are going for it – it’s very tense.
Dyer my son, you should have gone for it!
3 minutes extra time – eek. Nooooo it’s sickening.
I knew it, I could feel it coming 1-1. It’s a shame, it would have been super cool to have beaten Brazil and it was a good match. Poor JT and Becks looked pretty upset. Bring on Estonia!
15 seconds away from a 1-0 win, but I’d been saying to Sue as we watched it, 1-0 isn’t safe!
Maybe if they’d left most of the team on rather than disrupting play and flow by using loads of subs we could have held on to the lead.
I guess it worked out fair in the end: We score, they score, it’s a 1-1 draw.
I want to watch the Copa America, Brazil V Argentina. Will it be on Sky?
Pre match ramble
I’m feeling very excited about tonight’s match. Not because I expect England to play well or anything crazy like that, just as I’ve been football starved of late (and miss you guys a lot!) and holed up in my house revising – I can randomly quote Hamlet: “Thrift, thrift Horatio! The funeral bak’d meats did swiftly furnish forth the marriage tables”, know dandy little stats: President Johnson’s approval rating soared overnight from 42% to 72% after his handling of the Gulf of Tonkin Incident and geographical facts such as 40% the Netherlands lies below present sea levels (if you’re reading this in the Netherlands, don’t panic – just find a hill…actually you probably don’t have that many hills…)We’ve gone all out again with the snacks, M&S biscuits – they even came in a tin! I wonder if Lampard is playing, I reckon he’ll be left out so Gerrard can play, maybe he’ll have another “wrist injury”. I’m hoping Kaka and Ronaldinho will be exciting to watch, they had a quiet World Cup, but maybe they’ve been saving themselves for this!
I was at WH Smith today buying some pens, oh the excitement – I also brought an alarm clock from Argos – rock n roll all the way! And I was standing there reading the football magazines for a bit and thought I’d share the information I learnt:
Heinze and Ronaldo are good friends – I bet they exchange hair tips, Gabriel has the most lush looking hair in the Premiership in my opinion, I love the way it buffs about when he runs.
Ronaldo DENIES EVERYTHING about dating the ex-Hollyoaks actress Gemma.
In the Arsenal magazine there was this section with the title “Tomas’ firsts…” which I thought was a bit weird and risky, especially as it was under the Junior Gunners bit, but it turned out to be stuff like: The first player I spoke to, my first memory, the first football team I supported. I can’t really remember any of the answers, but there was nothing amazing, no disrespect, it wasn’t Rosicky’s fault just the questions being a bit dry. But I have decided that I should try and work there and interview the players and write up match reports and stuff! How cool would that be!
Also, another interesting fact – in Man City, the rivalry between them and United is so deep that in the canteen/restaurant they have blue ketchup. The executive people are not allowed to have red cars either.
Lastly, before I go and make myself a toasted cheese sandwich, I have a question that even Anamul might not know the answer to:
When Cesc Fabregas plays for Spain, his shirt has “Cesc” on the back. However for Arsenal it has always been “Fabregas”. In an interview Cesc said he wanted “Cesc” on his Arsenal shirt but that “they wouldn’t let me. Unless you’re Brazilian, you can’t.” Indeed, Brazilian Gilberto Silva has “Gilberto” on his Arsenal shirt. Why is it different for non Brazilian players?
Watch this space for the match report!
The final footy awards
Footballer of the year award: I was thinking about this for a while and narrowed it down to Anamul and Teague. Since I’ve started playing with all you guys I realise even more so than before how good you are because it’s so hard to get the ball from you and then I have to watch you, particularly Teague, score countless goals. I’ve been playing against Teague a lot (hence he got most intimidating behaviour award for his poor treatment of me!) and he has been on fire of late, and was absolutely amazing in goal. Then there is Anamul who is the players’ favourite; Teague put him as his favourite player in his interview and me and Ads were chatting about how good he is. Anamul is so hardcore he even went off to buy a ball when we didn’t have one and everyone was standing around not knowing what to do! So for his skills and dedication and all round football knowledge and encyclopaedia I award best footballer of the season to Anamul.
Best move in a match: Jonathon did the Kaka roll back thing to the delight of me and Emma who screamed and cheered.
Most likely to be picked for the England team replacing both Lampard and Gerrard: Craigy G
Best tutor football fan: Mr Chaudhri
Romeo and Juliet award for star crossed lovers: Teague and who ever he happens to be behind when a corner is being taken.
Best smelling footballer: Aaron Dempster
Best celebration: Joe
Best match: You decide, which was your favourite?
Best stepovers: Anamul back in the day when he used to do them, but then he stopped? Why Anamul, why? Aaron does them too much, no disrespect!
Most intimidating footballer: Teague
Best cheerleader: Patricia
Player most like Rosicky with a work rate like Kuyt: Adam Jonas
Most impressive shots shot wide: Ashley Lowe
Player who would have received the most red cards and doesn’t understand the rules, but tries very hard: Izzy
Footyblog of the year: www.izzyfootyblog.blogspot.com
Liverpool’s Harry “Cool” award for coolest footballer: Please submit your nominations for this very prestigious award.
I’m going to make you certificates and everything! Actually I should probably be revising now!
Quick match report for Thursday 24th May periods 3+4.
We played this in the cage and as soon as I came on I put a sweet cross from Jonathon past Chris! I then scored again later on! This was a brilliant and fast paced match, with plenty of goals. My team (with Craigy G, Jonathon, Michael Gibbs and Yan with Simon in goal) were winning 19-18 and were about to reach 20 until Jonathon hit it over the fence and the match was abandoned. I was marking Anamul and was chasing him down whenever he got the ball and tried my very best but I don’t think I once dispossessed him which was infuriating! As Ashley Cole said about Ronaldo one match, he had me in his pocket. Actually I think I made him lose the ball when I remarked that “This is the reason Ronaldo gets hacked down”, and I think Anamul feared for his safety. Gibbsy and Jonathon were extremely skilled and did lots of good stuff and Yan tackled Anamul which was highly impressive! Lots of good play all round!
I feel sort of sad that we won’t have any matches at school anymore, but this summer we have to meet up and play and I will present the certificates I may have made by then! So make sure I have your contact details and you have mine so we can round everyone up! And keep checking the blog for updates! Much love to you all and it has been a pleasure and much much fun playing with you guys! Izzy
Don’t forget Arsenal fans to get tickets for the Emirates Cup in July – bargain price at £25-£30! (Arsenal should pay me for that advertising!)

Champions League Final, Tah Dah!
Well, it was riveting and it was Liverpool’s match, but they didn’t win, so I don’t want to write about it any more. I get really down when my team doesn’t win and I don’t even support Liverpool, so I don’t know how the players and the hardcore, lifelong fans feel. Poor dudes. They played like winners though. Did you see Kaka’s t shirt? Nice to see the return of Harry “Cool”. I started to write a song about him, to the tune of Skippy the bush kangaroo, “Harry, Harry, Harry, the bush kangaroo” But I need to change the last bit.
The comebacks of all comebacks!
The Champions League final hasn’t happened yet, it’s tomorrow and I await it with great anticipation. The Fabregas household will stock up on chocolately snacks and will be adopting a neutral position – do I support AC Milan then Man U can say they were beaten by the Champions or do I support Liverpool, an English team? Who can at times be a bit dry – even (the legendary) Kevin Liverpool fan agrees with this. Actually after Cashley Cole’s remarks today about Liverpool I kind of want them to win just to spite him, Arsenal are well rid of him I say! So what is this comeback you talk of I hear you cry!
Oh before I get to it, I was on arsenal.com and read about the “Emirates Cup” – OK, it sounds a bit crappy but it means football in the summer with Arsenal playing Inter Milan and PSG. There are two matches in the day and it costs either £30-£40 depending on where you sit, which is fairly decent considering you watch 2 matches! I thought it would be a supercool thing to go to in the summer holidays so I was all getting ready to call up the booking line, then I got scared they would field the Arsenal reserves (like the Chelsea v. Man U match featuring Dong et al.) so I haven’t got a ticket. They are probably all sold out now anyway.
This sunny and beautiful lunchtime as I was waiting to digest my food (I’m sort of fussy and didn’t want to play straight after eating), I was watching the Sixth form sharks. Anamul’s team was not looking in good shape – indeed, the form that Teague is in at the moment, anyone who plays against him doesn’t look great. It was also probably because they were a man down, it was just Anamul, Ashley and Jonathon holding the fort with Anamul acting as rush goalie. The score was something like 9-3. When my food was fully processed in my stomach, or perhaps intestines big or small, biology confuses me, should I make a joke about Chemistry and me and Cesc or is that just sad? Anyway moving swiftly on…I came on and turned the game around (just kidding!) but really we just improved phenomenally! I’m not good at writing reports when I’ve played as I forget most of it! I remember making a good tackle on Danny, and then me and Ashley did a Ronaldo and Rooney thing where I raced down and provided him with the ball, but unlike Rooney he didn’t score this time. Suddenly our football was smooth and beautiful. There was this one moment when we did some brilliant Arsenal passing, I think even I got a touch, and then Jonathon scored a super goal (unlike Arsenal! But just wait til RVP is back!) Anamul scored a great header from a corner. (Hey – I delivered my first ever corner today!) And the goals just started flowing past poor Peter Pick (some alliteration for you there). To be fair, they were great goals rather than bad goal keeping, although one went right through Peter’s legs which was rather amusing. We brought it back to 10-10, it then went to 11-11 and then Sixth form Gunners (playing like them, Wenger would have been drooling over us, and all of us being supporters of the Arsenal it seems an appropriate name for us) went on to win the game. Forget Manchester United coming back at Everton from 2-0 down, forget the 2005 Champions League final between Liverpool and AC Milan when Liverpool came back from 3-0 down to take it to penalties with Mr Spaghetti legs Dudeck, our comeback from 9-3 down is one of the reasons I love football, it is cliché but true – anything can happen, nothing is impossible (although England qualifying for Euro 2008 does make me wonder sometimes).
Any words from the triumphant captain? Or fellow players? Enjoy tomorrow’s match, I hope it’s a good one!

Hardcore football match!
I am absolutely exhausted so cut me some slack with this write up – but it was such good fun I feel I should record it for posterities sake! Just to demonstrate how tired I am before kick off I was looking at the ground and said “oh look there’s a tree” when I meant to say “worm”, believing it to be a worm when in fact it was a small twig. The goal of the season was scored today early on in the match; Ashley made a great run across practically the whole pitch I think, and set up Aaron who did a brilliant volley past Teague – it was amazing, the set up to the goal and the goal itself, executed beautifully by the sweet smelling Demster! Ashley’s run and pass to Aaron was like when Ronaldo breezed across the pitch and set up Rooney in the United Vs. ____________ match and the goal was almost like the Robin van Persie volley in the Arsenal Vs. ____________ match. We missed Anamul today! Where were you?! And of course Mike, Peter Pick, Craig and ________________(insert name here if I’ve forgotten you – just kidding!) We played for ages so I can’t give a minute by minute analysis, and by the end we were lagging but so dedicated that we continued playing! I scored 4 goals which I am very stoked about, but only one of them was actually a good goal, although I can’t actually remember it, take my word though! One of them, it was rumoured, may have been a hand ball, but I don’t think so! Everyone else scored way more, with Jake on over 5, and the rest of them scoring loads! I had loads of chances which I fucked up, or Teague stopped me getting, which became a tiny bit frustrating so I had to wrestle him to the ground. Then Jake rolled me in the mud as revenge for probably hitting or grabbing him, I can’t remember! I was sort of like Arsenal, all the chances are there and we can’t get it into the back of the net. There were two awful times when it was crossed to me right in front of the goal and all I had to do was stick me foot out but I didn’t. Then there was the one were it was an empty goal the ball was right in front of me and I didn’t stop, touch or controlled it so it rolled off! Cringe!
Anyway, enough about me. As I can’t recount the match to a satisfactory standard, I’ll write about individual players, although I might be slightly biased towards my team! Ooh we saw a fox run across the playground, well me and Teague did, everyone else ignored me when I said “oh look there’s a fox” like I was imagining things or something.
Adam Jonas: Like Rosicky but better. Adams work rate is brilliant; he’s always going for it and getting it to, as opposed to going for it and flopping! He has skills too, and can dribble the ball along with style and control, that I often find myself just watching his feet and then when he passes it to me, I just stand there as happened on several occasions today! Another good thing about Ads is that he is generous with his passing, he knows when to go for goal himself and when to pass it which is a good quality! Unlike…
Ads also made some good saves when he was in goal.
Aaron Demster: Who tries to do everything himself and doesn’t pass enough! He tries his Ronaldo skills and then gets disposed! Scored the goal of the season, and does have skills, just needs to pass a little more! I lost count of the number of times Ashley was shouting “over here” and just got ignored. Smells gorgeous!
Ashley Lowe: Set up the goal of the season with style and composure. I think it was him who scored the second best goal of the match. Lots of other chances that just went wide, he sort of like Arsenal and me sometimes. Left quite early on.
Joe: Scored lots of goals and another hardworking player who can be found all over the pitch. His celebrations get more extravagant with each goal! The first was an Alex Fergie jig thing, and then he went for the Rosicky bury- head -in –shirt celebration. Keep up the good work, maybe practise some new celebration dances! Adebayor and Henry can give you some moves! Supports Everton which is a worry – joking! I like toffee, actually I lie, it sticks on your teeth, it’s fudge that I love!
Jake Colman: Did a brilliant skill thing near the goal where he did a sort of backward kick thing, it’s hard to describe. Scored lots of goals to mine and Ads’ annoyance! Strong rivalry between Ads and Jake after Jake could have scored but was fouled by Adam who went on to save Jake’s penalty, which otherwise would have been a goal – he was robbed! Lots of nice passing and goals. Grrrrrrr! Quite intimidating!
Teague: Talking of intimidating!... Oh, what can I say about Teague, words fail me! He was probably/definitely man of the match today; he played exceptionally both in goal and on the attack. Hardly anything got past Teague and the amount of times he stopped me scoring was quite painful for me! It must have been even worse for my team mates, he just stopped everything. Teague was on fire. Brilliant footballer. Skills, goals, the lot! Grrrrrrrrrrr! Although slightly underhand tactics when dealing with me!
Chris: Also had many goals today. Very tenacious and lots of energy! He is working on his skills, such as confusing me with the ball and not letting me get it. Good at getting the ball and around the pitch and good positioning and passing and all that jazz!
Other players: Dan, for a little bit, and a guy but I don’t know his name, sorry!
That’s all folks, bring on Saturday!

Manchester United V Chelsea...zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
"Mourinho are you listening? Did you keep our trophy glistening? We've come here today/ to take it away/ back to the Fergie wonderland! Top stuff! Ben also taught me a wicked Arsenal chant but I can't be bothered to write it out! So Just ask me to sing it to you! Cristiano was looking very buff in his suit, and I don't usually like guys in suits but he can pull it off! Ummmmm is there any other footy news to report?
That same day as the dry Chelsea - United match (I mean if you don't believe in it or don't want to win, don't play, I don't want your 0-0 draws) I was playing with teh guys at lunchtime at had a pretty good match I reckon! I got shoved on the floor by my own team member Aaron, but he smells so good I'll let him off! It was a high tempo game, we were down but them embarked on a brilliant comeback but couldn't quite beat Teague, Ads, Peter Pick and Anamul. But there were skills all round!
Better do some revision work or something! See ya guys!

The Special One speaks, all hail the Special One!
your damn right i got things to say about that!! i'll start with a four letter word beginning with c to sum up that performance- C_ _ _. Can you guess what it is? No? I shall tell you, cos i am the special one. The word was CRAP! I knew from the start that they were going to lose and I tried to tell everyone but they wouldn't listen! For me, Chelsea is the only team. Chelsea, Chelsea, Chelsea. Chelsea play football, Chelsea score goals, some people say, Chelsea, its a good team, but for me, I say that a manager makes a team what it is. It no matter how the players play well, Chelsea, players are rubbish, like Joseph "The Fat Man" Cole. But i say, that Chelsea manager, myself, wonder team on its own and should've won. Chelsea this and Chelsea that. We will always win, and I will always be the special one. I am the best. I am also quite humble and modest and do not like to talk about myself. Lastly, i want to confess my unu-dying love to you, Izzy. I have always admired you. You've always been my Special One, if you know what i mean!! Dont keep me waiting, lets get together. All my special-one love, Jose Mourinho

Nooooooooooooooo!
Well it was certainly a night out! On the bus on the way the man sitting a seat in front of me was watching porn on his mobile phone! Right on the bus! I couldn’t believe it, it was horrible so I just stared intently out of the window, then he smiled at me when he got off! Shudder shudder! I found Jack Stamps and Ads was there. The people behind us were Arsenal fans and for the whole of the first half were going on about how Arsenal were the best team in Europe and played the best football (well, I agree to extent, that’s when they find the back of the net!) and for the whole of the second half they were supporting AC Milan and saying how they were going to eat “Italian pizza at Pizza Hut”. It was a good match but I can’t really appreciate that at the moment as I’m feeling bitter. AC Milan deserved to win – I don’t know what happened to Man U, they, as Ads said, “fell to pieces”. I can’t really remember a moment of brilliance from any of the players which is so disappointing because I’d had such high hopes for them – I honestly believed that they would score the first goal, and while I recognised that Milan are top stuff, I thought United would have the edge and just get the win. Man United can play so magically but tonight wasn’t one of those nights. They were totally outclassed by Gatusso and Kaka and the Milan lot. The beginning of the second half looked more promising and they were building up and creating chances, sort of, but it wasn’t good enough. The annoying thing is that Dida isn’t great at all and I reckon it would be pretty easy to get a couple of goals past him, but first they had to penetrate the Milan defence which was immovable. It was nice to see Vidic back but still it just wasn’t good enough! So we lost 3-0, the first of course was Kaka, but even then we could’ve come back. The second goal should not have been a goal and their defending – if you can call it that – just summed up United’s whole performance – a shambles. I can’t remember the third, I’d had enough by then, but it was just after Ads had said “United aren’t going to come back from this.” If only United had scored some it would have been a thrilling match even if it had ended in defeat, but they didn’t even come near really. I bet Jose will have something to say about it tomorrow morning. Well, that’s my rambling for tonight! A little apology to Ads who had to put up with me rating all the players on their looks – I promise I’m not fickle and do actually watch the football. It was probably 30% me remarking “Kaka is quite cute, oooohh I like Gattuso getting all fiery, Ronaldo looks a bit like a turkey etc.” and then 70% serious match analysis and general moaning noises as United stumbled about.
Well I should start writing about our school matches, probably better than the way United played tonight (but I still love them). It was a good match, apart from when Yan kept on forgetting to play and was fiddling with his MP3 player and then smacked the ball into my face. Teague was an outstanding goalkeeper and was my man of the match. I think he’d been watching Pepe Reina the previous night!

Holy Kaka!
Reasons why I love football (and it’s not just because of some those dashing AC Milan players!)
Watching Manchester United v AC Milan encapsulated everything I love about football. It was a truly brilliant experience! Sheer joy at the first goal then as we found ourselves 2-1 down to the feet of Kaka, the nerves started to kick in to a point where I couldn’t actually watch it and felt physically sick (salad, pasta, chocolate, M&S fruit box may have been overdoing it slightly too), to make things worse United began passing poorly and Ronaldo was loosing the ball – how often do you see that? I counted 4 times, 4 whole times! Seeing Kaka play for the first time for me was pretty exciting stuff – he was mightily impressive and nice to watch but Ronaldo in my eyes is still the best. I like Kaka though, apart from when he’s scoring past Van der Saar. At the end of the first half it was all doom and gloom in the commentators’ box, they were rambling away and seemed to have given up hope which riled me a bit and I tried not to listen. The second half saw an absolute turn about; United dominated possession and belief. They were at their very best – the United that is thrilling and a pleasure to watch, where – although it sounds cliché – anything can happen, even if all of your first choice defenders are out. Quick, neat passes…and I dared not think it would, but secretly knew what was on its way…GOAL! Roo-ney! 2-2 and everything seemed OK again, my stomach muscles could relax a little and the commentators had nothing to say for a while. Man United were back in it and I can quite confidently say were the better team (after the first half where I was grudgingly admitting that AC Milan were rather good). The second half flew by in a whirl of red Manchester United shirts. Loads of chances were created but didn’t seem to be making it to the back of the net; Dida was kept on his toes and was making lots of good saves. Thinking they deserved another goal but deciding that 2-2 was good enough, the two minutes injury time I thought would be about keeping possession and nothing more. That was until something happened and all of a sudden Rooney was blazing a fabulous goal – the best of the match? Past an unsuspecting Dida…so Milan defender, so Dida, you thought he was gonna take another touch? Actually I was rather surprised too and could hardly believe it. Once again I found myself longing to be at Old Trafford – as the crowd went absolutely wild. Amazing stuff!
Stuff I loved about this match:
Feeling physically sick, stadium fraught with tension and Ronaldo still has the panache to produce successions of step overs.
6 defenders around one man…it could only be Ronaldo.
Oooh Kaka – he’s good!
And the young French substitute who came on was looking highly attractive – they say he’s the next Zidane. There was another good looking Milan player but I’ve forgotten his number and name…I shall look them up on the web!
O’Shea doing some step overs too!
Someone doing step overs and then a nutmeg…was it Cristiano? Can’t remember, but I reckon so, then again it could have been O’Shea!
Gattuso – does his name mean “little cat”?
Wayne Rooney’s post match interview – the press haven’t painted an all too rosey picture of young Wayne but he came across really well I thought and seems like a decent bloke.
We’re winning, we’re losing, we’re drawing, we’ve won!

The match got off to a quick start…sorry it’s hard to know what to write when I’ve been playing in it myself and I’m still recovering from it too!... With a blasting header from myself which then gave me what felt like concussion for several minutes. Team Gumball were certainly dominating in the first half with Mike, Danny and Simon passing nicely and getting the ball up to the goal. Teague was a heroic goalkeeper too, making several impressive saves. And without blowing my own trumpet, I played rather well in the first half, at one point I made quite a run down most of the pitch and was in front of the goal where I crossed it to Chris but he was tackled, but by the second half I was exhausted-I’ll have to work on my stamina-playing 90 minutes is hard work. Having procured many goals, mostly scored by Mike-he made it a hat trick at least I think, team Adam were lagging behind, until the arrival of Ashley who found the net with ease and grace. Adam himself throughout the match was a key player for his team in acquiring the ball and creating chances and was therefore closely guarded by myself, then Teague and then Shaz who did some brilliant defending by break dancing in front of Adam as a free kick was taken. It boggled his mind I’m sure! I have to apologise to Adam and Ashley and everyone else on team Adam for my grabbing of them-I don’t mean to I promise, I’m just trying to get the ball, in future I will try to make less physical contact.
In the second half team Gumball had the honour receiving a player on the just opened transfer market. Young Joe, a friend of Dan’s, joined out team. Someone said he was a professional and plays for a team and while I think this may be a slight exaggeration, I believe that he probably plays for his school team, but if he does in fact play for Arsenal or Man United youth team many apologies and I’ll eat my words-and hook us up puuurrllleaaseee! He certainly added a little je ne sais quoi to the team, playing up front and scoring some brilliant goals, of note in particular an amazing header which made Peter Crouches look pitiful! He also set up other players nicely, at one point he did a lovely cross to me for my moment of glory and I missed it-I can’t remember what happened! And don’t want to think about it any more! However, although with this great addition to the team, the Gumballs were slightly outclassed in the second half by a determined Adam’s team who went on, with the help of Ashley, to narrow the goal difference with the score at full time reading 9-7 to the Gumballs. Ashley played brilliantly today with amazing driving shots into the corners of the goal (he probably got a goal in each corner, top right, top left, bottom right, bottom left, I wouldn’t be surprised!)-they were truly outstanding, and for this I award him man of the match. But really everyone played brilliantly today and it was much fun playing with you all. What a master class in football, what text book playing, everyone had their moment of class and skill, such as Mike’s twirling and spinnig with the ball which would have done Ronaldo proud, and when I was lying on the ground (having fallen over-not just for the sake of it) and still managed to kick the ball-how cool is that?
After the match (with the 30 minutes injury time-which I sat out for for quite a bit, I mean 30 minutes, on top of the 90 just played-that’s just crazy!) we then practised our skills for a bit which was fun-those Ronaldo set overs and one twos with Ads and Ashley which is super fun! And that hitting the crossbar game, with Danny and Joes hitting it 3 times, Teague twice…Shaz and I then went breezing down the hill on our skateboards-this you have got to try-it is a long long, slightly curving and sloping concrete path and is beautiful to skate down. You can slalom and cruise to your hearts content and it is such a wicked feeling (like when you score a goal!), and it’s really like snowboarding. We went down three times but stopped in case the euphoria wore off after a while! The drunk people at the bottom even cheer you when you get there-if you can call it cheering-sort of grunting sounds I guess-no disrespect.
Much love,
Thanks to all!
Got the mention the referees: Orun, Patricia, Louise-big up yoselves!
We missed you Anamul, I think we forgot to tell you as we were handing out the leaflets on Friday lunchtime and you’d gone to the computer room with Kevin-but just wait for the summer!
I was horrified to find that no one had watched Match of the Day and seen some of the best football I’ve ever seen! But then Emma came and she’d watched it so we could talk about Arsenal, Vidic etc. Guys you have got to see it-never before have I seen such thrilling matches in one weekend-Chelsea and Watford, Man U and Blackburn, Arsenal and Liverpool and Tottenham and Reading were looking pretty lively too! Ooh and Champions League this week-I love Champions League, down the pub I go to watch it if it isn’t on ITV.

ICT Cup
First round of ICT Cup
And you thought the ICT guys could just play Pro Evolution Soccer, turns out they’re not so bad at the real thing…
After a Dyer (sorry, I know I’ve used that before, but it’s still funny!) England match last night what a relief it was to see some real football finally. After school, the ICT classes of Mr Molefi and Mr Chaudhri met in the upper school cage for the much anticipated first round ICT cup (I think all the other subjects should have matches and then different subjects go head to head, can this be arranged? Pat, Kevin, Ricardo, Craig and I will be representing Geography crew if this idea goes through)-you won’t get players poaching each others goals here, Nugent cough cough and you’ll probably see more goals. I was very disappointed to see that Mr Chaudhri was not playing himself but took on the role of ref/manager for the wittily named Chad’s Army team, with Mr Moleif’s class employing the equally brilliant moniker of The Molef Heads-pure genius! I’m not sure how unbiased a ref he was, he seemed to be shouting instructions out which I don’t believe is a ref’s job, but then look at Graham Poll and they still let him on the pitch-“what you can’t give three yellow cards?”
I’m sorry to say I missed kick off and some of the first half but I turned up and joined the crowd, who were initially quite subdued but got much rowdier, just in time to see Anamul racing down the pitch, do some tidy one twos with Danny and for Danny to shoot wide, it was very close. Anamul was ruling the pitch in the first half and was key to everything that was going on, rather like a certain MrFF. The one and only Craigy G was on top form as usual and Danny was impressing and playing well (or should I say linking well to sound extra professional?) with Anamul. Actually I’d like to big up everyone but that will take up too much time-unlike the England team, players on both sides were giving it their all and put on a good show. The end of the first half saw a bombardment of shots on target from Anamul’s team, it was truly thrilling, they were certainly putting the pressure on Simon, the Chad’s Army goalkeeper. This hot period saw three near misses from the Molef Head’s-from Danny, Chris and then Danny again.
Ashley pointed out that the balance of play turned from Anamul’s team due to the substitution which saw Peter come off for Yan-who looked like Nero or some sort of gangster in his dark glasses-bringing a little glamour to the game. Talking of glamour-I must say Anamul was looking very dashing in those ¾ length trackies and top! I wasn’t aware that Yan’s inclusion was the catalyst for this change, I just saw him trip over a couple of times, but the second half certainly saw Chad’s Army come back into the match and put pressure on The Molef Heads. It was probably down to an inspiring managerial talk from Mr Chaudhri at half time. A dubious free kick saw Jonathon kick the ball past Richard to bring them back into the match. Before this, Anamul had scored an emphatic sweeping goal past Simon taking the score to 3-1. The score at full time was 3-2. It was perhaps 4-2 as Anamul scored again just after the whistle, but injury time had been forgotten so if it hadn’t been, this goal would have stood.
Comments from the crowd:
Patricia: “Judas, Judas!” (to me as I was supporting the Molef Heads rather than my form tutor’s team), also, “Jonathon Rickards was very good and had a lot of possession”
Ads: “Lewis was a central part of the team at the back but was by himself” “There’s only one Anauml!”
Ashley: “Yan made a slight difference-Molef Heads had less chances.”
Post match interviews with the captains
Anamul: “It was a good match, tiring…I put blood, sweat and tears into it…a great and sexy performance from the lads.
It wasn’t a free kick-Micheal Gibbs fell.”
On who is his inspiration: “It’s got to be one person-my dad. My inspiration is me. OK I’ll say Fabregas.”
What would you say to Arsenal who are struggling at the moment? Any advice? “They need top players like me.”
Jonathon: “It was tiring-the team was rubbish…no support up front-the rest of them were tired. I was pleased I got the 2 goals though and hit the post.”
NB. Mike Eastwood was playing with an injury-left knee, cartilage behind the knee cap gone. If he plays like this with an injury-a fully fit Mike will be quite powerful force-he played very well in the match.
Man of the match: Anamul Hassan
Key player, constantly at the centre of the action, always creating chances for himself and those around him, and is very selfless-always passing it on when he can. Can link up well with everyone around him. A good leader too.
The Molef Heads: Craig, Anamul, Richard, Danny, Chris, Mike
Chad’s army: Lewis, Simon, Peter (Yan), Jonathon, Michael Gibbs
Final thoughts: It was a much deserved win, I saw Anamul and Craig drawing up their game plan in our free period, they were very professional in their approach to the match and it showed in their play. I have the match plans which I shall be auctioning on eBay-only joking; I shall keep them as a souvenir and treasure them forever!

Dyer England and IT football!
Nothing new then I guess-Gerrard was good, I was shocked at Nugent poaching poor Defore's goal-if that was me I would be so mad! After the dissappointment, hopefully the IT match will be more thrilling! I see Craigy G and Anamul are planning and working out tatics-good work boys! I shall be supporting Mr Chaudhri's team as he is my form tutor! Big Up Mr C!

My first ever goalllllllllllllllllllll!
Updates!
Have been distracted of late and haven’t written any 6th form Sharks updates in a while, but I will be sure to do so soon. I guess what with me now playing too, writing about matches is a bit more difficult. OK so I’ve only played in two matches, so it’s not much of an excuse, but my first match was rather successful-I hit the crossbar after some good play with Anamul who set me up but later on I missed a sitter provided by Teague-the less said about that the better. It was so much fun playing with you guys, and I’m chuffed that you are patient with me and don’t mind me screaming that much-I promise I will try to stop though! I feel my football career is coming along nicely. Anyway, enough about me-lots of other news:
· Sixth form Sharks have recently (the past two matches) had problems with surplus players-the pitch is so crowded and great players are seeing less of the ball and there is less brilliance being produced. It’s all a bit chaotic. I’m sure things will sort themselves out-according to Darwin’s natural selection the better players will sick it out and the not so good ones will drift off. However I don’t really believe this as it seems a bit un-politically correct and I have love for everyone.
· Sixth form Sharks missing Craigy G. Come back soon!
· The charity match-European greats Vs Manchester United greats. I wish I could watch it, it looks like it’d be really interesting. The European side has amazing players, the crème de la crème, but as they are not used to playing with one another, will they make a potent team? Larsson only just played his last ever match for Man U and already he’s playing against them.
· Messi scored a hat trick in what I heard was an exhilarating match on Sunday (was it?)-damn not having Sky football channels, I want to see it! Barcelona V Real Madrid was 3-3
· I have a gorgeous Arsenal scarf that I shall be rocking out in today! Don’t forget to big me up when you see it!
· Off to see the Arsenal youth team FA cup semi final v Man U! Will be wearing the scarf with pride.
· If I have a child and he is a boy, I will call him Francesc because I am quite taken by the name!
· And finally…“Your mother is a whore” (no disrespect, peace)

So here goes...
Arsenal bomb, Sixth form sharks soar!
After a disappointing match last night-damn awful, didn't even bother to watch it-it was great to watch the 6th form sharks this morning playing an enthralling game in the sunshine. A sweeping shot from Teague past a sprawling Lewis put them in the lead but the other team weren't about to sit back and be walked all over, rather it was a game of attacking at both ends. A scrambled goal was scored by Craig as Peter tried and failed to grasp onto it. Teague then scored again to add to this seasons impressive tally. Craig took a good corner which was hit away by Peter. And then along comes the silent assassin. After rather poor form of late Jake bounced back and shut up his critics with what could be as his best performance to date-although many still to come I am certain. He scored a brilliant goal past Lewis and his celebration dance afterwards was almost as sublime, Henry and Adebayor had better get some new moves coz JC has set a whole new standard. I missed Anamul scoring as I was listening to Mr Capon talking about Fair Trade, but I am sure it was also very amazing. There was a lot of long and accurate passing shots from Jake and he found himself being the backbone of the midfield and playing a prominent role throughout. ON the flanks was the ever potent Craig, always ready to score when the ball is provided for him-an often very stylishly too. Craig hit a goal past Peter, who did not react, standing rooted to the spot. As the final minutes approached the crowd were roaring their appreciation for such an explosive match. Dan scored for the first time ever which was super. Both teams were gunning for it-determined to get the next goal. Jake made an emphatic shot, a narrow miss. Mike made a good goal which just about crossed the line. We thought it was all over when Teague scored a world class goal, a volley from within his own half with Lewis not standing a chance. Craig hit a similar beautiful volley shot but this was met with an impressive save from Peter- his only remarkable save in what was a lacklustre match for him. However after this first near miss, Criag was determined to score. When we all thought Teague's goal had sealed it, Criag tapped in a neat little shot past the fumbling Peter.
There was a fight after the match with the losing team taking out their anger on Peter and beating him up-thankfully there was not a repeat of the fiasco at the Carling Cut final and everything was brought under control.
Hat tricks from Anamul and Craig

Show Frank Wankard the red card!
What a match yesterday! I know we're all probably still recovering from it-it was a very emotional time for us. Frankly, I am outraged, furious, mad, and incandescent with rage at the fact that a certain Mr Lampard attempted to kill the delicious Cesc Fabregas and then Cesc was booked as well-where's the justice in that? Cesc was trying to stop the fighting and then Lampard comes up to him looking for a fight and then Mr Smouldering Mourinho gets involved too. Lamps and Jose should know better than picking on someone younger than them, poor Cesc is only 19 and he was behaving more like a man than the rest of them. Shame on them! Trying to manhandle my man, I won't have it!
This aside, it was a good match, Arsenal dominated the first half, big up to Theo for his first ever Arsenal goal and then the amazing Drogba equalised-there's no stopping the man. After the JT incident, Chelsea upped their game and Arsenal drifted off a bit-it was close though!
Teague
Back to Emirates!
2 visits to Emirates within 3 days, now that’s rock n roll for ya! This time it was to see the Arsenal under 18s team for the FA youth cup 6th round against Cardiff City, for the extremely reasonable price of £3-we did try to get a student concession as concessions were just £1 but we didn’t qualify, but I’d say £3 was fair enough. Before I ramble on I thought I’d report the match with the text messages that were exchanged between me and my mum as they basically give the narrative of what happened with me going off on tangents.

Yesterday Arsenal V Blackburn Rovers!!!
Gunners lack fire (but I don’t care coz I was there!)
The bookies had put the score 3-2 to Arsenal on the posters in the windows so this promised to be a good match, especially after Arsenal were fresh from the electric match at Bolton and Blackburn Rovers were having a good run in the Premiership. However bookies are there to make money so perhaps their predictions are not to be taken seriously. This was a match of no goals. It was a disappointing result but I loved every minute of it. Not impressed by the score or rather the lack of scoring, but when you are there at the stadium it doesn’t really matter. This was my first ever match, I was simply in awe of everything and whether they scored or not didn’t affect me that greatly-although obviously I would have absolutely loved it if they had-I was just grateful to be sitting there, just rows away from Wenger and Tomas and Adebayor who were sitting on the sub bench which was oh so near us!
It was a bit of a rollercoaster of emotions before we had even got into the ground. Sue and I got there early and were soaking up the atmosphere and looking at the stalls selling fake Arsenal t shirts and scarves. We paid our respects at the semi demolished Highbury and then found our way to the spanking new, shiny Emirates. Posed on a giant A for a photo and hung around for a bit waiting for Adam. We waited and waited and still there was no sign. I tried calling but his phone was off. We started to panic-what if he was hungover from the night before and had forgotten about the match? My instructions had been rather vague (although he kindly said that they were “very good”)-what if he was standing outside Highbury station wondering where we were? Finally I managed to get in touch with him and he was on his way! I reprimanded Susan for not having faith in Ads-of course he would be there-brilliant guy that he is (although not one to reply to text messages which would have soothed our frayed nerves somewhat)!
Absolutely stoked when Jonas walked his way over to us-just as I was singing “Adam Robertson Jonas”-Brad Schmauss style. We took our magical season passes and scanned them through the turnstiles and we were in! Adam’s first move was to head towards the man in fluorescent clothing with BEER in huge letters on him, but we were turned down for not having ID. I’m never usually asked for ID-was shocked and appalled naturally! We found our section and were walking down the stairs to locate our row and the brilliant thing was that we had to walk further and further down, closer and closer to the pitch! Sitting happily in Block 2, Lower Tier, Row 10 seat 36 and seat 35 we were about 5m from the pitch and had the best possible view, a view similar to that of our near neighbour Mr Wenger. We were totally on the same level as Arsenal-practically. It was incredible; I was totally taken aback when we stepped into the stadium the sun shining down upon us on this beautiful sky blue day-awe struck. It was huge, rows upon rows of red seats towering everywhere and a beautiful green crisp looking pitch with Arsenal players warming up. Rosicky and Adebayor were right there in real life kicking the ball about to each other-I think I squeaked quite a lot before finding my seat where we continued to squeak and exclaim whenever we spotted a player: “There’s Walcott, there’s Henry!” A giant dragon thing came on and a little kid was kicking the ball at it. It was totally surreal, bizarre and unreal sitting there-it didn’t really sink in until the second half that I was actually there. The pitch looked a bit smaller than I’d expected at first. We also saw Almunia practising his dives and leaps as Theo shot at him, he saved each of Walcott’s attempts-I never knew goalkeeping could be so exciting.
It seemed to get off to a relatively high tempo start, but being Emirates which seems to have a lackadaisical influence over the players (remember their first ever match here-the opposing team scored the first ever goal to be scored on this hallowed turf), this quickly deteriorated ooh Manchester United are on TV now, I’ll just go and watch my other team-hopefully victory here-Adam said I was “scum” for supporting two teams-he was joking, c’mon Ronaldo-low life that I am! It’s more fun having two teams! OK I’m back now, another draw, but this was 1-1 with a goal struck with conviction by Carrick and a curling header from the
Arsenal played beautifully, gracefully passing the ball to each other, Theo would make an impressive run with the ball demonstrating the pace he possesses and would then lose the ball, but there was no urgency in their game. They seemed happy to pass the ball around all afternoon, and I’d have happily watched them do so, and probably procured around 70% worth of possession, however they could not convert this into goals. Why not?! I’d made an effort this morning; I was in my smart black jeans, blue Tommy Hilfiger Miaow cat top and my smooth black Corey Martinez Orchid shoes, surely they could have too-dare I say it, but Rosicky’s hair looked a little greasey-oh the blasphemy-mine in contrast was looking rather shiny if I don’t say so myself.
Didn’t see much from Henry in the first half, Senderos seemed to be delivering lots of headers and defending well, Cesc was running about holding the fort and passing with skill and accuracy, Walcott was working hard, Ljungberg was looking good-there seemed to be lots going on, but not near to the goals, I don’t think either goalkeeper was tested at all in the first half. Wenger seemed happy enough with their play and while he stood up now and again he mainly sat back and relaxed-perhaps this was their plan, pass the ball elegantly around for the entire first half and try to score in the last 10 minutes-this is certainly how the game was played out-I don’t think the fans were too happy about this. In fact they scared me quite a bit! The singing was fun -“we love Cesc Fabregas” to the tune of one of Mozart’s arias- but there was a lot swearing “you fucking muppet” and aggression towards all things Blackburn as well as the Ref “are you a
The second half was still rather complacent but there was more attacking from Arsenal this time and Wenger seemed to get more fired up towards the very end pacing about and puffing his cheeks as only he can. We were delighted to see the subs Rosicky, Adebayor and
Now Arsenal suddenly realising that they needed to find the back of the net, piled on the pressure and it got a lot more exciting. At one point the ball soared high into the air and then was freefalling into our path-I just saw this silver ball heading right at me while I ducked and everyone else leaped up to catch it. There were lots of attempts on goal and Rosicky came close many times and one time in particular which was just about saved, he and Cesc were working hard to keep the ball heading goalwards and Henry and Adebayor were certainly trying to get it in from the passes of Cesc and Tomas but to no avail. Hope was slipping away until we had to settle with a draw. Arsenal will be heading up north for a replay (which I bet they will win as the stakes will be higher which for sure will motivate them as well as not being in the comfort of their own home)-they like to make life hard for themselves as well as the fans. We cheered and clapped them as they walked off the pitch. I saw Flamini shirtless and Adebayor. Cesc kept his shirt on while I think Ros changed shirts with a Blackburn player but still had his vest on damn it-not that I went to the match to see shirtless men-there are strip clubs for that (joking!)
Us fans somewhat dejectedly left the stadium, while there had been no goals, I was extremely happy with my first ever football match experience, from the electronic turnstiles to the misfiring of Henry to Adam losing his crossiant (and then locating it later at the bus stop), it was absolutely brilliant seeing it first hand, for real, I can’t really explain how different it is from watching on TV but believe me-there is a big difference! Although I didn’t always believe I was there, it didn’t really register properly. I can’t wait to return with my Match Buddy Adam and whoever else I manage to drag along and see some goals next time. And I plan to buy a scarf too!

Arsenal and Adam tomorrow!
Rock on guys and see you all soon!

Guys-amazing news!
Firstly-click on "The Team" post and check out the brilliant photos of yourselves!
Secondly-I have the time off work and the man with the Arsenal ticket is going to call back soon so we will know if I'm going this Saturday or not shortly! Fingers crossed! Izzy
Amazing Arsenal-amazing news!
Now to last nights match! What can I say, I am almost speechless, but not quite as in fact I have loads to say about it-it is perhaps one of my favourite ever matches of all time (bearing in mind that I'm relatively new to this football malarky!) I've come up with a headline to sum it all up-hopefully The Sun wont steal it for their back page-Missfiring Gunners (hehe!)
I was quite torn last night as there was so much good TV which all happened to clash-Desperate Housewives, Nevermind the Buzzcocks, The Brits and of course the Arsenal match! Of course we watched Arsenal V Bolton match but every now and then I did flick over to the Brits because I love Russell Brand; it was a night of Russel Vs Rosicky. As the remote does not work, I had to keep on climbing out of bed and changing the channel by hand, so it did stay on Arsenal for most of the time. The match was brilliant, explosive, ummm suggestions for other amazing adjectives?
It was a very fast paced start, both teams raring to go, Arsenal perhaps knowing that scoring first was vital to securing a win agains their bogey team. There were loads of free seats at the Reebok stadium which I resented becuase I could have sat there and cheered away-was it becasue all the men were at home for Valentine's Day? or perhaps a protest at the extortionate prices that are being charged for tickets these days. I would have loved to have spent the night watching Rosicky and all those lovely players. Of course there was lots of elegant paasing from the Arsenal boys and after just 13 minutes of high tempo action the toned and long limbed Adebayor found the back of the net with the help of a Bolton defender. Much respect to Jussi Jääskeläinen, known for his impressive saves, but he couldn't get this one. Stealing a stat from the Match of the Day commentators-every match in which Adebayor has scored, Arsenal have won. I then flicked over to the Brits and say Snow Patrol singing Chasing Cars so flicked back over to the match.
Tomas Rosicky was outstanding, he was in the midst of it all, almost scoring himself early on in the match (and looking absolutely gutted to see it narrowly zoom past) and setting up chances for the other players, such as when he played a beautiful cross into the penalty area which Baptista failed to convert into a goal. He was propelling Arsenal forward with his little curtain hairstyle bobbing about which looked ever so appealing! (Keep it professional Izzy!) We’ve noticed that Rosicky seems to really excel when Cesc is not playing, has anyone else noticed this? A quick switch to the Brits to observe Russell Brand who is almost as elegant as Arsenal’s play; Amy Winehouse is on collecting an award or something-lose interest and return to the footy. Arsenal still putting the pressure on Bolton. I love Russell Brand-his style, his mockney accent combined with his impressive grandiloquence. Some people are very critical of him; I think he’s a Marmite case-you either love him or hate him, what with his werewolf appearance and obsession with his genitalia (everyone complains about this latter characteristic but whenever I see him, he’s never talking about it), but I learn something new every time I watch him and for this I am grateful and reverential. The Brits are a joke, but Brand is aware of the joke and therefore escapes the ridicule that the others receive-no wonder the Arctic Monkeys sent a video message. James Morrison won an award, dedicating it to “every singer songwriter who’s still playing in pubs-this one’s for you”.
At the 42nd minute Bolton surge and in quick succession produce three fine chances which are all sadly missed. One was extremely unlucky as it hit the top corner of the post. Arsenal then go on the counter attack and fly down to the other end of the pitch where it was one on one but Baptista falls over and doesn’t score. He appears to be a rather mercurial player-he can play awfully and then have moments of brilliance and totally redeem himself. Turn over to see Take That-sounds like a lot of high pitched screaming-lots of “aaaaarrrrrrrr” in the highest octave possible, sing along for a bit before returning to Arsenal where the Bolton fan’s relentless singing is more in tune than the stuff on the Brits.
At half time Match of The Day shows yesterday’s Middlesbrough v. Bristol City match which looked absolutely intense and explosive. Probably would have supported Bristol City had I watched it having just recently visited the city of Bristol and found it much to my liking.
The appearance of the Red Hot Chili Peppers singing Dani California mean that we miss the start of the second half-was surprised to see that Anthony has copied my hair cut-we look exactly the same-same length, colour and style (slightly layered). There was frenergetic (a combination of energetic and frantic) drumming from Chad and as we returned to the match this pace was paralleled here too.
Players are on the floor all over the place-I’ve never seen so many fouls and tackles-so it was inevitable that it would happen in the penalty box. Baptista is the one to go down, although from other angles it does look as if the Bolton player did touch the ball which would have invalidated the claim for a penalty, the ref doesn’t see this angle though-and Gilberto (standing in as captain for Henry) steps up for the spot kick which he sends flying high into the sky, “a wild penalty”. What happened? Did the fierce booing of the Bolton fans put him off? It was hit with conviction but lacked direction, as if the ball had taken a Stellious easyJet flight as far from the goal as possible.
The pace is still going strong from both sides-it’s almost tiring to watch. Ljunberg was about to come on as a sub but I wondered whether he would want to launch himself into this frenetic orgy of tackles which is not exactly easing himself into it. That shows how much I know Ljunberg-he was absolutely fine, played really well in fact-sorry Freddie for doubting you for a moment.
Campo tried to get a penalty of Rosicky but it was clear to all that the Little Mozart had been trying to leap out of his way and had not stopped Campo in anyway who was then promptly booked for his diving antics.
Adebayor then flew down the other end, dodged and danced around Jussi and then went for goal only to see it ricocheted against the post, the MOTD commentators exclaiming “a worse miss than the penalty” however, if you ask me, Adebayor’s attempt was closer than Gilberto’s.
With only two and a half minutes left, it looked as if Arsenal had clinched a narrow and extremely tight 1-0 win; however the perseverance of Bolton and the belief of their fans saw them grab a last minute goal just when we thought it was all over. The stadium literally erupted (well almost literally). This meant 30 minutes of extra time was to be played, but being 10 o’clock on a Wednesday night meant Desperate Housewives time so we turned over to visit Wisteria Lane. In one of the many and lengthy commercial breaks we turned over to see that Arsenal were 2-1 up at 19 minutes of extra time. My heart was in my mouth as Anelka almost scored from a free kick. And the rest I’m afraid to say I don’t know-I didn’t see it but did hear about another missed penalty from Baptista this time, and two goals-another from Adebayor and one from Ljunberg to secure a 3-1 victory. Love all round on Valentine’s Day for Arsenal and Bolton’s exquisite play. (Especially for Rosicky, my main man, and man of the match.)

Photo time! Some thoughts on the weekend's premiership action and Adam's brilliant goals
Ooohhh Premiership action...did Wigan deserve at least a point? Were they "robbed"? Manchester United's match wasn't that exciting, I think the Mirror summed it up beautifully with the headline "Park Life" hahahah for all you Brit Pop fans!

Play cancelled due to SNOW!!!!
"For Crouching out loud!" as my mum so aptly put it.
So last nights match! And another disappointment, but surely you can't be disappointed because you should know what to expect from England by now! I was supporting Spain (but was upset to see Alonso was not playing and Cesc only got a couple of minutes) not just because of their handsome players (cough, Cesc, Alonso, Villa, Torres and Puyos hair is something else!) but because whatever they do will be more exciting than England and I've heard great things about Villa and Cesc is such a talent, so Spain all the way! Not much to report match wise (the England team should watch the 6th form Sharks to get some inspiration and learn how to play a good match). England began really well and set a fast tempo, then things just tailed off. The Spanish goal keeper had practically nothing to do. It proved to be extremely boring and I had to force myself to carry on watching...I started to wonder what I liked about football, then I remembered that any match that is not England is usually thrilling, with skills, beautiful footwork, passion, goals on target etc. There was one decent shot on target from Michael Carrick (who is growing on me, was never that impressed before, but he's winning brownie points these days!) and that's about it. Roll on Israel!
Obviously this was a bad match because, although it was planned, Craigy G did not make his debut.
Craigy G why was this?
What do you think you would have brought to this match?
Would you have been able to turn it around?
Keenly awaiting your response.

Weekend Premiership Action!
I’ve been called a glory hunter, but this is not true, my loyalties are split and it’s not all fun and games-sometimes it means double the pain and things get awkward when they play against each other. I support Man United because my mum is from Manchester and supported them as a child so who am I to deny tradition? Then I support Arsenal as I was born and have been bred in London and they are the most stylish London team who are not funded by a Russian billionaire and they have several attractive and extremely skilled young players-Cesc…When it comes to the crunch and they are playing against each other I go for United-but this has proved to be an unwise move as both times the Gunners have prevailed.
In true Izzy style I’ve been ill all weekend with the flu (I’m always ill on weekends and holidays-never during school time-this can be quite frustrating) and all I can do is sleep, lie awake going hot and cold and feeling dizzy and sleep some more. I just about managed to stay awake for Match of the Day hoping Arsenal would bring some cheer to my miserable day-however all they could muster was a 1-1 draw against Middlesbrough so the less said about that the better-it hardly mattered anyway-by this time I was hallucinating Arsene Wenger standing pitchside in his boxers singing the French national anthem.
By Sunday my state of well being had deteriorated further and I spent the day sleeping and feeling ill. My recovery rested solely on United. I lay in bed listening to the match on the radio.
The first half was poor play by United-scrappy, rough, ill disciplined, very uncharacteristic of their usual cool, controlled and confident temperament. The twinkle toed Ronaldo epitomised the way this was going as he fouled himself and later tripped over the ball (this seems hard to believe and I didn’t see it with my own eyes, but we’ll have to trust the radio commentators on this one). Things did not improve for Ronaldo when he sent a cross from which he should have scored sky high. Tottenham were playing well and looked as if they deserved to be in the lead when minutes before half time Ronaldo dived in the penalty box and won a dubious penalty. From where the ref was standing it did look to be a penalty but after seeing the incident from every angle possible from the cameras I wonder if Ronaldo was even touched at all. He goes down like a tower of Jenga blocks. The ref also missed a more valid call for a penalty when Larrson was pushed down in the box and a penalty call for Tottenham when Gary Neville rugby tackled a Tottenham player-although according to a MOTD 2 pundit this sort of grabbing and groping goes on all the time and is part of the modern game. Ronaldo’s amateur dramatics upset me greatly-a player of his calibre is above this (although evidently he doesn’t think this as it has become quite a habit and is at its most prolific when playing for his country)-he should be above it-he’s so talented that he doesn’t need to cheapen himself in this way. It’s ridiculous and he’s earning himself a bad reputation (on top of his reputation for his penchant for Hollyoaks girls). He certainly ensured he is not popular with the Tottenham fans. He swiftly converted the penalty, in what was reminiscent of the World Cup 2006 penalty shoot out, and United were one nil up at half time.
Perhaps Tottenham were dispirited by the injustice of it all but rather it should have conjured a fighting determination. It was United that returned to the pitch, no doubt after some words for Sir Alex about their style of play, with steely tenacity and before the second half could barely get started there was a multitude of goals. This softened the blow of the debateable penalty as United showed that they could earn goals by skill and merit rather than employing underhand tactics, and now in their stride, Spurs didn’t stand a chance. From a Carrick free kick, Vidic ran forward unmarked and sent in a beautiful header-and what a beautiful head Vidic has! His fourth goal of the season. The third goal was bundled in by Scholes after an awesome cross by Ronaldo. Some nice play between Saha and Giggs saw Giggs put away the fourth goal.
Just when victory looked sealed for United and a clean sheet for Van der Saar-the goal keeper was hit in the face by Keane’s knee and suffered a broken nose-rolling about on the pitch he looked worse than I did and that is saying something. Having used all their subs United had to improvise and for a moment it looked as if Ferdinand was going to put on the goalkeepers jersey and gloves, but then O Shea did the honours and took his place between the sticks which must have been a funny sight as it made Wayne Rooney chuckle. He made one good save, stopping his fellow Republic of Ireland team mate, which the MOTD2 pundits declared, Keane, “he’ll never live it down”. O’Shea managed to maintain the clean sheet and a comfortable 4-0 win for United which secures their 6 point lead ahead of Chelsea and made me feel a whole lot better.
