Tenacious Teague Triumphs again!
Friday 2nd February 2007 Breaktime
Score: 3-3
Team 1: Peter Pick, Adam, Mike, Craig, Teague, Anamul
Team 2: Orun, Richard, Anton, Ashley, Shaz
Just a brief report today as it’s a Friday afternoon and I want to get home!
As soon as the game began there were attempted shots on target by Mike setting the tone for a fast paced and ferocious match. This game also saw the debut of Shaz, however sadly after only a couple of minutes she returned to the bench with an injury, “I feel gutted I can’t play for my team!” Peter made many good saves today stopping the advancing strikers with his foot and demonstrating some impressive punches that Jens Lehmann would be proud of! Craig and Adam were playing some lovely 1-2 football (just like Rooney and Larrson-although everyone knows Ads is Rosicky really) and Adam went for goal, however this was stopped by Peter’s foot. Good work from the pair. Teague and Anamul then showed why we call this the beautiful game by playing 1-2 with Anamul sent a low shot flying past Anton who didn’t stand a chance. During half time Patricia entertained the crowd with her saxaflute which was an experience not to be missed-see photo for full effect. Teague then scored a goal from his own end of the pitch, a volley which soared and arced across the sky, as Xabi Alonso’s did against Charlton a while back, leaving the crowd speechless. After this marvellous (I’m seriously running out of adjectives for good and amazing…any suggestions?) performance Teague then proceeded to work with Anamul, the duo becoming like a force of nature, and Teague went for goal putting serious pressure on the goalkeeper but which Richard managed to save. Anamul then made a run down the pitch and with immense style coupled with some step-overs (to make Ronaldo drool) neatly chipped the ball into the “net”. Possibly a match highlight. A set piece from Ashley’s side (which had seen little of the ball until this point-the match being dominated by Teague, Craig and Anamul) with a lovely free kick delivered competently by Ashley almost created a goal opportunity but not quite as Peter Pick made another save as Kevin tried to kick it in. Kevin was then hit in the face and there was some injury time as he recovered. A penalty was then given for handball, although it was very controversial and was met with much opposition "I believe it wasn't a penalty"-Anamul, and this was executed by Adam (although I thought he was on the other team-sorry for any confusion). The final game was delivered by Mike and then the game was broken up by Ms Taylor.
Man of the Match: Teague, he was all over the match like a rash, popped up everywhere.
Captain Anamul remarked after the match: “Ref made the wrong decisions which changed the course of the game. I am a dickhead.”
Mark for the match-compiled by Izzy and Shaz-don't take them seriously though, it was a difficult process rating you guys!
